Plant-based proteins - An Irish Farmers Experience

The first video in a series of videos entitled “Plant-based protein: Yes you can!” sees Irish Tillage Farmer, Charles Smyth from Co. Carlow showcase how he has successfully grown beans for many years, citing financial benefits, soil health benefits and improved distribution of workload as key reasons for continuing to include beans in his rotation. His Teagasc advisor Phelim McDonald also features in the video and reports that beans are projected to have the third highest margin after malting barley and winter wheat in 2023, with a gross margin of €340/Ac.
