Pakistan’s political situation remains in focus as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi responds to PTI’s announced September 27 protest, while the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP) holds a leadership meeting and discusses the upcoming political activities. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the government would take legal and administrative measures to ensure compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s recent directions regarding public gatherings and the use of government resources. He also said law enforcement agencies had been briefed ahead of the September 27 political activity. Meanwhile, the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP) leadership meeting, chaired by Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, discussed the country’s political and economic situation, regional developments, provincial issues, constitutional matters and the September 27 PTI protest. The meeting was attended by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Nasir Abbas and leaders from other opposition parties. According to the meeting’s statement, opposition leaders expressed support for peaceful political activity and discussed coordination with other political parties for an All Parties Conference on major national issues. The TTAP meeting also discussed Imran Khan’s medical treatment and meetings with family members and lawyers, provincial rights, the federal system, the NFC framework, economic challenges, inflation, public issues and the proposed creation of new provinces. The alliance also announced plans for a joint political, media and public outreach strategy ahead of September 27.
