This Trip Is Confirming Why I Live in Brazil

After almost 10 years of building a life in Brazil, coming back to America has given me a chance to see both countries with fresh eyes. And the longer this trip goes, the more I’m realizing that choosing Brazil wasn’t just about where I wanted to live — it was about the kind of life I wanted to build. New York is incredible. The views, the energy, the opportunities — there’s so much about America that I still love and appreciate. But standing there watching the sunset over Manhattan reminded me that visiting a beautiful place and actually building your everyday life there are two very different things. Brazil isn’t perfect, and neither is America. But after nearly a decade abroad, my priorities, rhythms, and even my definition of “home” have changed. This trip isn’t making me regret leaving America. In a lot of ways, it’s confirming why I still choose Brazil. 🇺🇸 American by birth. 🇧🇷 Brazil became home.
