Dive at White Beach, Mbanika, Russell Islands, Solomon Islands — the Allied code name for the beach where US forces landed in February 1943 (Operation Cleanslate) and built Naval Base Banika with its PT-boat base. At war's end, trucks, bulldozers and ammunition were simply dumped off the wharf; today it's a coral-encrusted underwater museum that doubles as a macro haven with mandarinfish and harlequin shrimp.
