Secret Wars Will End the MCU We Know

Kevin Feige was asked directly whether the MCU reboots after Avengers: Secret Wars. His answer was simple. No. But he has also used another word for what comes next: Reset. That distinction may end up defining the future of Marvel. Because a reboot erases history. A reset doesn’t have to. Tonight, we’re looking at the evidence for what Avengers: Secret Wars could actually do to the MCU — not the exaggerated version where eighteen years of continuity suddenly disappear, but the much stranger possibility that Marvel keeps the history while completely rebuilding the shape of the universe around it. The Avengers. The X-Men. The Fantastic Four. Spider-Man. Characters who spent decades separated by different studios and different continuities may finally exist inside one shared reality. And Marvel has already spent years teaching audiences to accept exactly that. Endgame introduced branching timelines. Loki turned those branches into a full multiversal structure. No Way Home connected completely separate Spider-Man franchises. Multiverse of Madness introduced incursions. Deadpool & Wolverine folded the Fox universe directly into Marvel’s larger mythology. And the Fantastic Four were deliberately introduced on a separate Earth before being pulled toward the same crisis. Secret Wars may not be the beginning of that process. It may be the conclusion. Tonight, we’ll compare the MCU’s current setup to both versions of Marvel’s Secret Wars comics, especially Jonathan Hickman’s 2015 story — the version Kevin Feige has specifically pointed toward as inspiration.
