Does the DeWalt DW735 impeller break up shavings?

In another video, I demonstrated how to remove the impeller from the DeWalt DW735 thickness planer to reduce its power draw, since a dust collection system with 4" hose makes it largely unnecessary by extracting chips and drawing cooling air past the motor. This video looks at a possible third result of using the impeller, whether by design or by chance, which is to break up wider wood shavings so they're easier for a dust collection system to handle. I have been using my planer without an impeller since around mid-2020, both with a SHELIX helical cutterhead installed and with the stock knives. I have not had any issues, and don't plan on putting it back as long as my dust collector is available.
