Following several defeats and having suffered much devastation, the Emperor was forced to sign a crushing peace treaty. The White-Gold Concordat at last brought an uneasy peace to Tamriel, but peace it was nonetheless. All I wanted then was to settle down for a quiet life in the hills of Colovia, tending to my cabbages and hunting game. But the Divines knew that my purpose had not yet been fulfilled. For in the land of the Nords, a conflict is stirring that I fear could tear apart not just the empire, but Tamriel itself. Under the banner of one “Ulfric Stormcloak”, half the country has now raised their flag in rebellion, right as the Thalmor are more ready than ever to tear into the Empire like hungry vultures. Meanwhile, the people talk of dragons from the ancient world stirring once again. And all of this means pain and suffering for the common folk of Skyrim, soldiers and citizens alike. I made a vow to those who died in my arms all those years ago. To uphold the Empire and the Divines as long as I would live. So their sacrifice would not be in vain. No, these old bones can’t rest just yet. I still have one last mission left in me. So tomorrow, I head out on the road north, to a city of stone called Markarth, to learn what fate has in store for me in the lands of Skyrim.
