In 1977, as the first light of the Patchoulilight spread across the world left behind by the fallen Glimmerlight, Steven Halpern remained among the synthesists who had chosen the path of the Sagegazers rather than the journey to the Offworld Colony. With the Progbarians now ruling beneath the earth, and still unaware of the Sagegazers' existence, Halpern turned his Blue Crystal toward the heavens and recorded "I": A Cosmic Attunement, a meditation upon the twelve celestial pathways. At a time when many sought to understand what had been lost, Halpern turned his attention to the cosmos. . . .
