Nothing stays, and that's not a loss. 🌾 The susuki grass has turned silver, and the whole field is moving in the wind. A wandering ronin stops on the path in his straw hat, not hurrying anywhere, watching a summer he cannot keep go quietly past him. This piece is inspired by "MONO NO AWARE" (物の哀れ) — the tender feeling for things precisely because they do not last. Japanese has a separate word for this, apart from plain sadness. It is not grief that the season is ending. It is closer to affection — the particular beauty a thing only has because it is on its way out. The grass is most beautiful in the weeks before it is gone. So nothing here is being lost. It is only passing, the way everything does, and you are allowed to find that beautiful instead of frightening. Shakuhachi moves like wind crossing an open field, low and unhurried. Koto touches down here and there, the way light catches one plume and then another. Nothing builds, nothing resolves. It simply moves through, and that is the whole idea. This music is suitable for 🌾 Letting go of something you can't keep 😴 Sleep and deep rest 🍂 Endings, changes, the close of a season 🌿 Sitting with a feeling instead of fixing it Let it play and stop holding on so tightly. Whatever is leaving your hands right now was never meant to stay — and that is not the same thing as losing it. If this brought you some quiet, consider subscribing.
