Tip Up Ice Fishing | Northern Pike | Boundary Waters Day Trip

I venture into the boundary waters just outside Ely, Minnesota for a quick day of tip up ice fishing for northern pike. Not all of my adventures into the BWCA are epic, often they are just day trips venturing out for some fresh air and a few hours of fishing. Even though I only had a half day to fish, I had a great time and caught a ton of fish. Tip up fishing is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to catch fish in the Boundary Waters and I really enjoyed sitting in my camp chair and watching flags fly all day long! I was using a dead smelt on a beaver dam tip up and a live shiner minnow under an Ifish Pro. Both methods caught me fish, but the dead baits were far more successful. It seems that all pike are looking for is the easiest meal they can find that provides the most calories. #tipup #pikefishing #BWCAFishing
