A full walkthrough showcasing the final scenes at Eastpoint Mall, filmed within an hour of permanent closing. Although Eastpoint has struggled for some time, there was extra foot traffic as people showed up strong to get their last visit in. Opened on October 1, 1956 as the open-air Eastpoint Shopping Center, it featured regional anchors like Hutzler’s and Hochschild Kohn’s. To keep pace with shifting retail trends, the property was enclosed in 1972, evolving into the suburban mall form it retained through today. Eastpoint Mall was anchored over the years by JCPenney, Sears, and Ames, with JCPenney being the oldest remaining anchor at the time of closing. Other final anchors were Gabe's and Black Friday Outlet. JCPenney will outlive the rest of the mall, remaining open for an unspecified amount of time as a standalone store. A few other exterior only retailers are also staying on the property for the foreseeable future. Final closing occured around 20:00 on August 31, 2026 when mall security locked the doors from entry and began asking patrons to exit.
