The solution is simple: keep fifty ships on immediate-ready reserve, rotate them regularly, preserve hull life, ban no-space and black-hole transits, and let the remaining 944 go somewhere simply because they want to. Saturn. Neptune. Pluto. Nowhere at all. Beneath the humour is something quieter.
