Could these amphibious warships transform India's naval power and redefine maritime warfare? Follow Inconnect News for the latest Indian Navy, Defence News and Make in India updates!

These Indian Navy Ships will measure approximately 220 metres and carry around 900 fully equipped Army personnel, alongside military vehicles and artillery. They are also expected to accommodate two heavy-lift helicopters and 12 helicopters for special operations. The ships will provide command-and-control facilities, fire support and support for unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles, making them far more than conventional troop transports.
The programme represents a significant milestone for India's Defence manufacturing ambitions, following the commissioning of INS Vikrant, the country's 45,000-tonne indigenous aircraft carrier. The proposed warships could enhance India's operational reach across the Indian Ocean, supporting expeditionary missions, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance. The project also includes proposed India-UK cooperation to develop an electric propulsion system, strengthening indigenous naval engineering capabilities. As Prime Minister Modi continues to emphasise domestic defence production, this initiative could become a major development in India's maritime modernisation.
Although the programme is focused on amphibious warfare, India's broader Defence preparedness also includes the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. Lessons from Operation Sindoor, the Pahalgam Attack, and the wider India Pakistan Conflict have intensified public interest in military readiness, India Pakistan War scenarios and India Vs Pakistan strategic developments. However, these LPDs serve a distinct maritime role.
For viewers following Defence News, Current Affairs, and the evolving strategic environment, the programme raises an important question: can these four naval giants strengthen India's ability to respond to emerging challenges? From the BrahMos Missile and BrahMos capabilities to INS Vikrant and future Indian Navy Ships, Inconnect News and Inconnect News Insights continue to follow India's defence transformation, including Operation Sindoor Documentary coverage and developments involving PM Modi.
