Our Bengaluru to Ladakh Road Trip – Day 23 began with a peaceful morning at our homestay in Hanle. We started the day with a simple homemade breakfast of delicious poha and bread with jam before heading towards one of the most fascinating places in Ladakh – the Indian Astronomical Observatory. 🔭 Indian Astronomical Observatory, Hanle Located at an altitude of approximately 4,500 metres, the Indian Astronomical Observatory in Hanle is one of the world’s highest astronomical observatory sites. Thanks to its high altitude, dry climate, clear skies and extremely low light pollution, Hanle offers excellent conditions for observing the universe. It is home to powerful telescopes that help scientists explore distant stars, galaxies and other celestial objects. A truly fascinating destination for astronomy lovers! 🏔️ Photi La Pass – One of Ladakh’s High Mountain Passes Our next destination was the beautiful Photi La Pass, another spectacular high-altitude mountain pass in Ladakh. Surrounded by barren mountains and breathtaking landscapes, the journey to this pass was an adventure in itself. The views from the top were absolutely incredible, reminding us once again why Ladakh is a paradise for road-trip lovers. 🚙 Umling La Pass – The World’s Highest Motorable Road! The biggest highlight of the day was reaching Umling La Pass, located at an astonishing altitude of approximately 5,798 metres (19,024 feet) above sea level. Recognised as the world’s highest motorable road, reaching this legendary pass is a dream for every adventure and road-trip enthusiast. With extremely thin air, freezing temperatures and challenging terrain, making it to the top in our Kia was an unforgettable achievement! 🇮🇳 Demchok Village – India’s Remote Border Village From Umling La, we continued towards Demchok, one of India’s most remote villages near the Indo-China border. Located in the eastern part of Ladakh, this region showcases the incredible beauty and strategic importance of India’s border areas. Witnessing life in such a remote location and travelling through these rugged landscapes was a truly special experience. With our visit to Demchok, our incredible Ladakh circuit officially came to an end! ❤️ After exploring the beautiful landscapes, high mountain passes, remote villages, monasteries and breathtaking lakes of Ladakh, it was time to begin our return journey towards Manali. We continued driving through the mountains, covering long distances and finally reached Jispa, where we called it a day. From Bengaluru to Ladakh and now towards Manali, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary! Stay tuned for more adventures from our 10,000 KM road trip! ❤️ If you enjoyed this episode, please LIKE, SHARE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE to MonkVlogs.
