Ribhu also denies the individual soul, egoity, and thought as independently real. There being only Brahman: Nothing else remains. No Doer, No Action Ribhu declares: There is no doer. There is no action. There is nothing to be done. Activity may appear, but there is no separate individual who independently possesses existence and authors reality. Only Brahman. Beyond Spiritual Practice From the highest standpoint, even listening, reflection, meditation, and samadhi are ultimately denied. Practices can help the seeker who still experiences separation, but the highest teaching goes beyond the need for those practices. Beyond Time and Space Ribhu removes even the framework in which the world appears. There is no independent: Past. Future. Present. Nor are earth, water, fire, air, and space ultimately independent realities. Even Guru and disciple are ultimately denied as separate realities because: There is only Brahman. Beyond Bondage and Liberation The teaching goes beyond: Bondage and liberation. Duality and nonduality. Truth and nontruth. Reality and unreality. When every distinction is removed, nothing remains for the mind to grasp. Even “I Am Consciousness” Is Transcended Even statements such as: “I am Consciousness.” “I am eternal.” are ultimately concepts to be transcended. Once Truth is directly recognized, even the pointer is no longer needed. Only Brahman Remains Everything known through words, mind, intellect, senses, and states of consciousness is ultimately dependent upon conditioning. Ribhu's conclusion is absolute: There being only Brahman, nothing else remains. Siva’s Direct Teaching Ribhu reveals that this teaching was given by Isvara—Siva Himself—to Kumara on Mount Kailasa. The world is compared to waves arising upon an ocean of solid Bliss. Everything appears in the Self, from the Self, as the Self. When this is understood, mundane misery ends.
