THANKS TO @PAMotorSpeedway Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS), initially a replica of the historic Heidelberg Raceway, was built in 1979.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Heidelberg Raceway: The original Heidelberg Raceway, the precursor to PPMS, was built in 1948 in Scott Township and closed in 1973 as Pittsburgh grew around the area.
PPMS Construction: Most of the facilities from Heidelberg Raceway were relocated to build PPMS in 1979.
Grand Opening: PPMS's grand opening was scheduled for June 10, 1979, featuring a three-division program that was rained out, moving to the next race day on June 17th.
Miley Motorsports Era: Miley Motorsports took over the operation of the track in 1989.
Ownership Change: In June 2023, Blair Cress Jr. purchased PPMS THANKS AGAIN TO @PAMotorSpeedway
