NDRP Evidence to Action event, The impact of investing in research co-design, held on 24 August 2026.
What happens when we invest in research that is co-designed with people with disability?
The National Disability Research Partnership (NDRP) brought together teams funded through our 2025 research funding round, which focused on the safety of people with disability, to share what they worked on, what changed through co-design, what they learned and what they recommend for future disability research, policy and practice.
The event included:
• the launch of The impact of investing in research co-design, a synthesis of learning from the 2025 funded projects by Dr Ellen Skladzien
• presentations from funded research teams about their approaches, findings and lessons
• reflections on inclusive and disability-led research
• discussion of effective partnerships, barriers, adaptations and what teams would do differently
• cross-cutting lessons for future research funding and evidence mobilisation.
The event was hosted by the National Disability Research Partnership and featured people with disability, researchers, community and advocacy organisations, and other project partners.
Content note: This event includes discussion of topics that may be distressing, including violence, abuse, neglect, restrictive practices, justice, sexual and reproductive safety, and other experiences affecting the safety of people with disability.
