This is a song for the kind of love that doesn't have a name for how hard it is. I wrote this about open adoption — about loving your child so much you choose what's best for them even when it tears you to pieces. It's been 18 years. And whether it's been 18 days or 18 years, it never really gets easier. It just becomes part of you. This is for anyone who has ever had to let go out of love. For the birth moms and birth parents who love unconditionally from near and far. For the days you feel proud and grateful to be part of their life, and the days you sit with the ache of missing them every single day, and the fear of not knowing what tomorrow holds.
