Travel UK: Hellens, Much Marcle, Herefordshire Come with me on a walk around the gardens during springtime at Hellens, a hidden-away gem in the county of Herefordshire. You can just about reach this property by bus. The nearest bus stop is outside the Walwyn Arms, around 500 meters away. The bus goes to/from Ross-on-Wye. (The Walwyn Arms has a good menu.) Further down the road is Westons Cider Mill that has an on-site retail outlet if you’re a fan of cider. Hellens is only open on limited days each year. It comprises a Tudor/Jacobean property and a garden with curated plants and artworks. The gardens are FREE to enter, although house tours must be booked in advance for a fee (GBP 10). The grounds also hosts special events (see hellensmanor.com for details). I didn't go inside, but the website cites that the house contains artifacts that belonged to Anne Boleyn, as well as paintings by the likes of Goya and Gainsborough. You can also rent Hellens to host an event such as a wedding (it looks like an amazing place to get married!). You can buy tea/coffee and cake on open days, although you can alternatively bring a picnic. Only part of the grounds is wheelchair-accessible. Minimum recommended time at the site: 1 hour Music credit: Rod Kim, Test Your Fight #traveluk #gardenscapes #tudorhistory
