The Lone Hawthorn on the Moor | Celtic Lullaby Harp Music for Sleep & Cozy Autumn Ambience (3 Hours)

The Lone Hawthorn on the Moor | Celtic Lullaby Harp Music for Sleep & Cozy Autumn Ambience (3 Hours) At the top of the old moor road, where the heather has faded to purple, one hawthorn tree stands alone. Its leaves have turned to copper and its berries glow red as embers. Someone has hung a lantern on its lowest branch, and the light moves very slowly in the wind. Nobody on the road will cut this tree, and nobody remembers why. The mist rises. The wind begins to drop. Sit by the old stone wall for a while. The lantern will keep watch, and the harp will do the rest. A gentle Celtic lullaby for deep sleep, reading, studying and quiet autumn evenings. According to old folk belief, it belongs to the Otherworld, and cutting it down or even breaking its branches brings bad luck. The belief is still alive today. In 1999, a road project in County Clare was reported to have been rerouted to avoid a lone hawthorn known locally as a fairy bush. Hawthorn blossoms in May, but in autumn it is the haws, the small red berries, that catch the eye. In some places people tied cloth strips and small offerings to such trees, a custom also found at holy wells.
