In this video I solve questions 5 to 8 of my own Paper 4 revision paper, written in the style of the real Cambridge 0610 Extended theory paper. Topics covered include: Inheritance: defining allele and homozygous, working out parent genotypes from a cystic fibrosis family tree, completing a genetic diagram, and finding the probability that a child has the condition or is a carrier Food webs and energy transfer: writing a food chain, secondary and quaternary consumers, predicting what happens when a predator dies out, calculating percentage energy transfer to one decimal place, and why energy is lost between trophic levels Homeostasis and blood glucose: comparing blood glucose graphs (type 1 diabetes), how insulin and negative feedback return glucose to normal, defining homeostasis, and the reflex arc (motor neurone and effector) Natural selection and biotechnology: how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, how bacteria are genetically modified to make human insulin, and how farmers use selective breeding to produce cows that give more milk ⏱ Chapters: 0:00 Introduction 0:47 Q5 Inheritance and the cystic fibrosis family tree 4:42 Q6 Food webs and energy transfer 9:03 Q7 Blood glucose, homeostasis and reflex action 13:10 Q8 Natural selection, genetic modification and selective breeding 16:25 Final exam advice Every answer is explained clearly, so you understand why it works and how to word it the way examiners expect. 🎓 PRIVATE ONLINE TUITION with Nur Nabi Sir (IGCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry & Biology) • One-to-One lessons: a personal plan, your own pace, your weak topics fixed. • Small-Batch classes: a small group of serious students, live online, with exam-style practice. Teachers and parents can use it as a ready-made revision lesson. It also helps students sitting Edexcel International GCSE Biology. Exam tips: In a genetic diagram, write the gametes in circles, show every genotype, and give the probability as a fraction or a percentage. For a percentage, write the working: part divided by whole, times 100, and check the decimal places. In natural selection, always write the four steps: variation, a selection pressure, the best adapted survive and reproduce, and they pass on their alleles.
