Lays the Beat down!
"Hey baby, how's it going? This... beat... is non... stop!"
Karate Joe is a recurring character in the Rhythm Heaven series. Wanting to be a soccer player, his father always told him that he needs to master karate before he can leave the house. He, uh... still lives in the basement.
In Crusade, He is an all-rounder between Mario and Ryu in stats that references other RH mini-games in his moveset. His attacks are generally fast but aren't all that strong, and his stronger options are either slower and/or need to be timed correctly, meaning he has to work hard for his KOs.
BEAT THE BEAT (Character Mechanic):
Karate Joe's specials are similar to Dracobot's Paddler mod, in which they can be made stronger by pressing the special button again at the right time. If timed too early, you'll either be left helpless or use a weaker variant instead. A button will hover above Karate Joe to show the player when to time the move.
NEUTRAL SPECIAL: Karate Man
Karate Joe punches a pot in front of him. It's strength and distance depends on how early or well you timed the B-Press.
Time it perfectly and he will instead punch a strong rock forward.
SIDE SPECIAL: Super Samurai Slice
He will transform into the Wandering Samurai, prepare his sword and lunge a short distance forward. This stuns opponents for a bit before launching them away. You can adjust the slash position while mid air. It's distance, stun duration and launch angle depends on how early or well you timed the B-Press.
UP SPECIAL: Launch Party
He will transform into a Rhythm Rocket, and once the launch pad hits 0, sends him flying while launching nearby opponents upwards. It's strength and height depends on how well you timed the B-Press.
DOWN SPECIAL: Donk-Donk
He will transform into... Uh... These guys? They will then launch themselves forward, with both a long-lasting front and short back hit box. It's strength and distance depends on how well you timed the B-Press.
FINAL SMASH: Combo Remix
Karate Joe performs his combo from Fever, with the final hit sending the opponent upwards with other rhythm heaven minigames appearing in the background, and ends with the opponent being next to the Wrestler.
