Why Did a Neuroscientist Become a VTuber?

Yana reveals the story of how she went from working as a neuroscientist to becoming a VTuber. After graduating with two bachelor's degrees, Yana spent around four years working in a lab in New York. When COVID-19 hit, her health and the lab's financial situation made it difficult for her to continue doing research. She eventually quit after working long hours for very little pay and started VTubing as a side hustle. Her VTubing career took off, eventually leading her to audition for companies and become the Yana we know today. But even after becoming a VTuber, she says she could never separate herself from the researcher who spent nearly eight years of her life studying and working in research.
