From Around the World to UFZ – For a Livable Planet

11 young researchers share what motivates and drives them to work at the UFZ towards developing solutions to global climate and environmental problems. Because yes, with climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution, we have created enormous and serious— and, moreover, highly complex — problems for ourselves. But we are by no means helpless. There are already many approaches to shaping a better, more sustainable, and more equitable future for current and future generations. Nature-based and technological innovations for environmental and climate protection also open up opportunities for economic and social development — worldwide, in Europe, and in Germany. To achieve this, we need the knowledge and drive of a great variety of people — drawing on all their expertise and commitment—from Germany, Europe, and around the world. The fact that these people exist, that solutions exist, and that together we can make a difference — that is what the 11 out of UFZ’s 1,200 employees from over 70 countries, working, researching, and living in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt – stand for.
