WE SHALL LEAD | Full Documentary

We Shall Lead: Voices Shaping the Future of Africa is a documentary about political leadership — and about the people who choose to step inside political institutions to create change. Filmed across Kenya, Uganda and Ghana in 2026, the documentary brings together the voices of women and young political leaders from different generations, backgrounds and political experiences. Through their stories, it asks a deceptively simple question: why, at a time of growing distrust in political institutions, do young people and women still choose politics? Their answers reveal the realities behind that choice: the desire to serve their communities, the conviction that decisions must also be influenced from within, and the determination to remain engaged despite political violence, exclusion, unequal access to power and the personal costs that political life can carry. We Shall Lead explores leadership not as an abstract ideal, but as something lived and contested every day. Its protagonists reflect on entering politics, staying in politics, creating space for women and younger generations, working across differences, and the kind of political leadership already taking shape across the continent. The documentary was produced as part of WYDE Political Parties, led by the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) under the European Union's Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Initiative.
