Having a fear of heights makes playing these types of obbies scarier than they ever need to be. I mean cmon, half-empty floors? Gameplay growing into silhouettes the higher I scale? Oh well. that is classic tower obbying for ya.
I don't think this is a bad choice for one of your first insanes, but it isn't a good choice, either. The citadel's heavy on purism, and it does have a few chokepoints (see floors 4, 5, 7, 14, etc.) scattered around. Serves a good middle-ground for nerve control, as it is not quick, but not THAT long either.
And you'll probably skip some gameplay... one way or another, at least. Which leads me right into the downsides. The gameplay's repetitive. I'll admit it, I took a lot of skips. But it does actually help tame down the repetitive nature of the citadel. So let loose, yknow? It won't hurt ya. Trust me.
But what WILL hurt ya are the killbricks... oh boy. I legit nearly died on floors 8-9 because all of the killbricks (except the floor pit) are uncollidable. You can walk right through them. And this game doesnt even have healing items. So yeah. I don't like that very much either.
So to recap: CoAD is GOOD in purism, few chokepoints, nerve control; BAD in repetition, and killbricks.
I bet you only read through the recap, didn't you? Whatever. Nobody's supposed to stand my yapping :P
The furthest I got before I beat the citadel was floor 7, so you can imagine that did not help well for me. Shaky hands, sweaty hands, pretty much everything that happens to me when I get nervous.
I did not like that I started loopfailing the last 5 floors after I fell from floor 20. It was already bad that I was fluking but to prolong my already unstable headspace like that? Yes, it was my fault and I should have been taking my time, but it really did feel shitty. Yet i mean i had a chance, so I didn't want to ruin it. Guess i didnt after all.
