Your BOQ (Bill of Quantities) allows 1,600 bags of cement. The Project Manager on site asks for 1,700. In this video we show how your BOQ can spot those extra 100 bags and stop the order before any money is spent, and what to do when the client really has asked for more work and the extra cement is truly needed. We follow one real-sized job, a 12-unit staff housing block in Machakos, from the Excel BOQ to knowing exactly where the money stands: The Quantity Surveyor uploads the Excel BOQ into Kijengo and the Contracts Director approves it, so it becomes the budget for the job Every request from the team on site, and every purchase order, is checked against its line in the BOQ An order that goes over the BOQ is stopped until the Quantity Surveyor approves it, with a written reason that stays on record When the client changes the work, the budget is updated through a proper revision, with a full history of every change One report in Kijengo shows the money planned, the money already ordered, the money spent and the money still available, line by line Chapters 0:00 The problem: the team on site wants more cement than planned 0:51 Step 1: Upload the BOQ into Kijengo and get it approved 2:16 Step 2: Stop orders that cost more than planned 4:55 Step 3: Update the plan when the client changes the work 7:06 Step 4: See the money planned against the money used 8:16 What we are building next Kijengo is a construction management system built by ITKenya Solutions on ERPNext, for contractors in East Africa.
