Letter recognition is important because it helps beginning readers understand how printed text is associated with the spoken language. Mastering the alphabet begins with recognizing the letters, knowing the sound of each letter, and then learning how to write each letter properly. In my letter series, I teach young learners the alphabet by reading a story, introducing each letter through clear visual, aural and tactile activities. I’m approaching the alphabet series one letter at a time.
