Cutting Down 120 Trees in 2 Hours! | $5M Debt #08

Welcome back to the Forest Hills Farm Timelapse. Field work is temporarily on hold, so we return to the forest—currently our farm’s most reliable source of income. However, the small woodland where we previously harvested timber is almost empty. To keep the sawmill operating and expand our forestry business, we need access to a much larger supply of trees. Fortunately, a suitable forest plot is available near the farm. We invest $144,000 in the property, giving us a new source of timber without having to travel long distances between the forest and our processing facilities. The increased scale of the operation requires more powerful equipment, so we visit the dealership and rent a forestry harvester. Once it arrives at the new property, we begin felling the trees and processing their trunks into transportable logs. The harvester makes the work considerably faster. In just two hours, we cut down and process an incredible 120 trees of different sizes. The new plot is quickly transformed into a large logging site filled with timber waiting to be transported. We’re also expanding the range of products produced by our forestry business. Until now, the logs have mainly supplied our mini-sawmill for lumber production. This time, we install a wood chipper in the farmyard, giving us another way to process timber and generate income. After renting a suitable logging trailer, we begin transporting the cut logs from the forest to the farm. The first loads are delivered directly to the new wood chipper, and wood-chip production officially begins. Our forestry business is becoming increasingly important to the farm. We now own another forest plot, have access to much larger quantities of timber, and can produce both lumber and wood chips. Every load we process brings us another step closer to repaying the inherited $5 million debt.
