On a hilltop in southern Turkey stands a stone monument so old it shouldn't exist. Göbekli Tepe was built more than 11,000 years ago — 7,000 years before Stonehenge, and 6,000 years before the first Egyptian pyramid. Massive T-shaped pillars, some weighing 20 tons, raised into circles by people who had no metal tools, no writing, no wheel, and no farming.
That last part is what breaks the timeline. For a century, archaeologists were certain of the order: first humans settled down to farm, then villages grew, then — much later — they built temples. Göbekli Tepe happened in the wrong order. And then, after more than a thousand years, its builders did something even stranger: they buried it on purpose, under hundreds of tons of earth.
In this video, we take a deep dive into the mystery of Göbekli Tepe — who really built it, why it rewrote the story of human civilization, why it was buried, and the questions even the archaeologists still can't agree on.
