The final performance of Paint the Night at Disneyland was more than a parade—it was an emotional farewell shared by Disney fans, Cast Members, and everyone who followed its final journey through the park. I began recording at the corner near the Disney Showcase store on Main Street, U.S.A., facing the backstage gate where the parade first entered. As the glowing floats, characters, and music passed in front of me, I followed behind the Cast Member holding the parade line and experienced Paint the Night from gate to gate along the entire parade route. All around the route, guests cheered for their favorite characters, thanked the Cast Members, and celebrated the magic that Paint the Night brought to Disneyland over the past 15 months. You can hear the emotion in the crowd as fans say goodbye to one of Disney’s most spectacular nighttime parades. The final moments took place near “it’s a small world,” where the parade entered its backstage gate for the last time. Mickey kept waving until the very edge of the gate—still performing as long as guests could see him from his high float over the gate. Then, as Mickey disappeared backstage, the guests who had followed the parade began singing the final lyrics together before breaking into one last huge cheer.
