I bought this GPU (asus dual 6700 xt OC) ~5 mounts ago.
It worked fine, but a bit hot and loud in my opinion.
So I decided to replace factory thermal paste and add some thermal pads for VRM elements.
Results:
After these procedures GPU temperature dropped by ~2C (C = degrees of Celsius), HOTSPOT temperature dropped by ~7C, VRM temperature dropped by ~10C, Memory temperature raised by ~2C.
(Room temperature = ~24C, GPU frequency = 2680MHZ, core Voltage = 1.098V, GPUcorePower = 161W, TotalPower = 216W)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Take extra care when installing metal elements into GPU - you can easily fry yours videocard. I used small copper plate only because closest to the PCB egde VRM DrMOS (SiC643A) have heatsink fins above it, so thermal pads stack wont be working efficiently (in my opinion).
Small update: As was said in comments below its preferable to use conductive surface for work: stone or metal. Antistatic plastic is good too.
My setup:
PC case: minitower Thermaltake Versa H18 [CA-1J4-00S1WN-00]
FANs: 3x120mm front intake Xilence XF042 [XPF120.R.PWM]
1x120mm back exhaust Xilence XF042 [XPF120.R.PWM]
1x140mm top exhaust Xilence XF051 [XPF140.R.PWM]
All Case FANpwm=60%, PC case side panels were closed
GPU: asus DUAL-RX6700XT-O12G in top PCIe slot, GPU FANpwm=60%
New thermalpads: DEEPCOOL Thermal Pad EK720 1mm
New thermal paste: Prolimatech PK-3
Software:
for stress - Furmark v1.31 + Rivatuner statistics server v7.3.3
for measurement - HWiNFO64 v7.30
