There are mornings when the wisest thing is not to pretend you slept well, but to admit you didn't. This morning prayer is for everyone who watched the clock turn from one, to two, to three. It is for those who got up to check the locks twice, or moved to the recliner with a blanket because lying down only made the worry louder. We begin with a familiar sound in the middle of the night: the chirp of a smoke detector with a low battery. It sounds alarming in the dark, but it isn't a fire. It's a signal that something needs attention in the light of day. Many of our three o'clock worries work the same way. Darkness turns up the volume; daylight turns up the truth. We thank the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps, the Keeper who was wide awake while we tossed and turned. We walk with King David as he fled Jerusalem in tears, his own son turned against him, and still wrote, "I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me." Then we bring Jesus our worried minds, our sleepless nights, and our fears about tomorrow. We pray for the children and grandchildren we lie awake over, and lay every heavy care down at His feet, trading it for His easy yoke. Pray along with the refrain, "You kept watch all night, Lord, so I can lay my worries down this morning," and step into this Saturday lighter than you woke. If this prayer helped you, leave a short comment saying "Jesus kept watch" so others who are tired know they are not alone. Share it with a friend who texts you at two in the morning because she can't sleep either. 🙏 In This Prayer: • Honest prayer for the morning after a sleepless night • The smoke detector lesson: many night worries are signals, not fires • Sorting what to face in daylight from what to give to Jesus • Thanksgiving to the God who never slumbers or sleeps • Gratitude for small gifts after a long night • Remembering other long nights God carried you through • Peace for a worried mind that races in the dark • King David's sleepless night of grief and the God who sustained him • Rest for the body and soul when sleep won't come • Trust for tomorrow and the fears you can't yet answer • Prayer for the children and grandchildren you lie awake over • Courage to open the envelopes, make the calls, and ask the questions • Laying down every burden and receiving the easy yoke of Jesus • Letting God's lovingkindness speak louder than last night's fears • A small bedtime practice: write your worries down and leave them on His shelf until morning 📖 Key Bible Verses: 1. Psalm 121:4: "He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." 2. Psalm 56:3: "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." 3. John 14:1: "Let not your heart be troubled." 4. Psalm 3:5: "I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me." 5. Psalm 4:8: "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep." 6. Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee." 7.
