Event Horizon (1997) - Nostalgia Check

SEND US SOME FAN MAIL (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2102352/fa...) We’re kicking off October with a trip straight into the depths of space and possibly straight into hell. Welcome to the first episode of our October Spooky Movies series on Nostalgia Check, where Brendan and Juan finally watch the 1997 sci-fi horror classic Event Horizon for the very first time! Starring Sam Neill, Laurence Fishburne, Joely Richardson, and Jason Isaacs, Event Horizon follows a rescue crew sent to investigate a mysterious spaceship that has reappeared after disappearing during its experimental journey through space. What they discover aboard the Event Horizon is something far more horrifying than they ever imagined. Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, this 1997 science fiction horror film has built a legendary reputation for its disturbing imagery, psychological terror, unsettling atmosphere, and unforgettable descent into cosmic horror. But does Event Horizon still hold up nearly 30 years later? Is it a genuinely terrifying horror movie, an underrated sci-fi masterpiece, or just a collection of disturbing nightmares held together by a spaceship? Brendan and Juan are putting this cult horror classic to the test in our first-time watch episode of Nostalgia Check. Expect hilarious reactions, horror movie discussion, nostalgic movie analysis, and plenty of questionable decisions made by people who probably should not be allowed anywhere near a haunted spaceship. And we’re just getting started. Next week, our October Spooky Movies series continues with Cujo (1983), the Stephen King adaptation about a family trapped in a car with a very angry, very dangerous dog. It’s going to be a barking good time.
