Went on an about 600 mile road trip up to Ohio to go and visit some of my family for a couple days, so I decided while I was up there that I should go around some nearby towns and see what sirens test on Saturday. I ultimately decided on recording this Sterling since it's something unique and I have never heard before. Before all of this, I ended up heading to Ottawa, Benton Ridge, and a couple other towns to snap some pics the day before. Nonetheless, the Sterling was loud for its size, and dated design, but it wasn't loud enough for me to warrant earplugs.
The Sterling Model M is located behind the Columbus Grove Fire Department, right next to an abandoned gas station.
Fire sirens in Putnam County are controlled by Putnam County EMA. All fire sirens within the area are tested on every Saturday, year round at 12:00PM, weather permitting.
Putnam County has two separate systems. Because of that, all non-fire sirens in Putnam County go off on a separate date. All non-fire sirens within the area are tested on the second Monday, year round at 10:00AM, weather permitting.
