Practice the Alto line from Fauré's Libera me with this score-following instrumental rehearsal track, designed for the wide A3 to D5 span, sustained soft singing and the low-voice Luceat eis response.
The Alto line is played instrumentally above the piano accompaniment, giving you a precise pitch and rhythm reference without a synthetic singing voice.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Libera me is Movement VI of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Op. 48. Its text is not part of the Mass proper. It is a responsory traditionally sung during the absolution beside the coffin after the Requiem Mass. The music probably grew from an independent baritone-and-organ setting written around 1877 and entered the expanded Requiem by the end of the 1880s.
Fauré omits the complete Dies irae sequence elsewhere in the Requiem, but its language briefly erupts here. The quiet personal plea grows into the fortissimo Dies illa, retreats into Requiem aeternam, and returns as an exposed choral unison before the final D minor prayer.

Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna, in die illa tremenda.

Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death on that dreadful day.
Quando cœli movendi sunt et terra, dum veneris judicare sæculum per ignem.
/ˈkwan.dɔ ˈtʃɛ.li mɔˈvɛn.di sunt ɛt ˈtɛr.ra | dum ˈvɛ.nɛ.ris ju.diˈka.rɛ ˈsɛ.ku.lum pɛr ˈiɲ.ɲɛm/
When the heavens and the earth shall be shaken, when you come to judge the world by fire.
Tremens factus sum ego, et timeo, dum discussio venerit, atque ventura ira.
/ˈtrɛ.mɛns ˈfak.tus sum ˈɛ.ɡɔ ɛt ˈti.mɛ.ɔ | dum disˈkus.si.ɔ ˈvɛ.nɛ.rit | ˈat.kwɛ vɛnˈtu.ra ˈi.ra/
I tremble, and I am afraid, when judgment comes and the approaching wrath.
Dies illa, dies iræ, calamitatis et miseriæ, dies magna et amara valde.
/ˈdi.ɛs ˈil.la ˈdi.ɛs ˈi.rɛ | ka.la.miˈta.tis ɛt miˈzɛ.ri.ɛ | ˈdi.ɛs ˈmaɲ.ɲa ɛt aˈma.ra ˈval.dɛ/
That day, the day of wrath, of calamity and misery, a great and exceedingly bitter day.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
/ˈrɛ.kwi.ɛm ɛˈtɛr.nam ˈdɔ.na ˈɛ.is ˈdɔ.mi.nɛ | ɛt luks pɛrˈpɛ.tu.a ˈlu.tʃɛ.at ˈɛ.is/
Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
PRACTICE NOTES
• Range: A3 to D5.
• Keep the pianissimo F4 entrance clear. Soft does not mean breathy.
• Luceat eis descends to A3 and remains exposed with the basses. Sustain the pitch through the long notes.
• The choral reprise later reaches D5 through an octave leap. Release excess chest weight before the ascent.
• Match the soprano's Latin vowels in the octave-unison section so the two upper parts speak as one line.
