According to the farm owners, their structures and fish feed—worth hundreds of thousands of taka—were set on fire. Livestock, including cattle and goats, were also looted. As a result, fish farmers in Shariatpur have suffered losses amounting to several crore taka. The administration, however, maintains that the operation was aimed solely at reclaiming government and agricultural land.
