Reuters footage filmed on October 21 shows damaged Dior, Messika and Rolex storefronts, boarded-up windows and workers reinforcing shopfronts near some of Paris's most prominent luxury shopping streets, including Place Vendôme. Carpenter Thierry Cascione said demand for protective work had increased as businesses prepared for the possibility of further vandalism. He described genuine fears about what could happen during the next round of demonstrations. The preparations come after protests over the rising cost of living escalated into clashes, fires and looting in Paris and other French cities on October 17. President Emmanuel Macron has vowed action against those responsible for disorder, while Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has been working with union leaders as the government faces pressure to address the crisis. Parisian anthropologist Eric Minnaert said the looting could not be accepted, but argued that rising living costs and frustration over living standards were important to understanding the wider unrest. French authorities have promised a reinforced security operation ahead of the next demonstrations. #paris #france #parisprotests #franceprotests #luxurystores #luxurybrands #dior #louisvuitton #rolex #bulgari #messika #mauboussin #placevendome #storevandalism #looting #protests #costofliving
