In the 1950s, the Smith-Corona Skyriter was the equivalent of our tablet computers. Compact, portable, and easy to use, it packs up to a metal "suitcase" that weighs about eight pounds and can be used practically anywhere—even on the pulldown seat trays of jet plane.
But like many vintage manual typewriters, my Skyriter's rubber parts ossified. The hardened rubber platen and feed rollers no longer gripped the sheets I fed into them. Loading paper became an issue, which meant that working became an issue. The solution? Time to change the platen and feed rollers.
This two-part video series shows you all the dos and don'ts for carrying out this procedure. Welcome to @TheWriteStuffPro-DamonDiMarco ! Damon DiMarco
