Mount Rushmore was never finished. More than two million people visit every year, and almost all of them leave thinking they've seen a completed monument. They haven't. There were bodies that were never carved, a face that had to be blown up and started again, a secret chamber behind Lincoln's head that was abandoned, and a name for the mountain that most visitors have never heard. In this video we look at how four 18-meter faces were carved by men who couldn't see what they were making, and at everything Mount Rushmore was supposed to be.
