Washington-based author Leeya Mehta on life in US, India & writing a literary novel

In this first part of "US India Collab Series", we have our usual candid talk with Leeya Mehta. Her debut book, Extinction published by Simon & Schuster, has drawn recommendations from quarters as diverse as Sooni Taraporewala & Salil Tripathi. Leeya has written poems carried by Penguin. Fitting well into the outsider themes addressed by BIG BAD IDEA, she is a bit of an outsider in the literary circuit. A professor in the US, she has also worked with World Bank.
