Four trains & MoW equipment at Titlow

Four BNSF freight trains and multiple track maintenance units pass through Titlow, Tacoma, WA, on a warm and somewhat smoggy summer day. Now in 4K, with the addition of my new phone! Trains headed north up to the port of Tacoma or farther up to Seattle must pass through Titlow, a waterfront neighborhood of Tacoma, WA. Titlow is also home to a lovely park, on land sold to Metro Parks Tacoma by descendants of lawyer Aaron R. Titlow (1857-1923). About 3.5 miles north of Titlow, trains enter the Nelson Bennet tunnel and reach Tacoma. Likewise, trains headed south from Seattle or Tacoma to Portland and southern Washington pass through Titlow as well. Amtrak trains have not passed through Titlow since 2017, when the Point Defiance Bypass was opened. These tracks are owned by BNSF, but Union Pacific has trackage rights. A defect detector, located at the S 19th Street crossing, the crossing south of the 6th Avenue crossing most of these clips are filmed at, calls out milepost 10.1.
