The scapula (shoulder blade) is a flat, triangular bone located on the posterior side of the chest. It has two surfaces (costal and posterior), three borders (superior, medial, and lateral), and three angles (superior, inferior, and lateral). Important features include the spine, acromion process, coracoid process, and glenoid cavity. The glenoid cavity articulates with the head of the humerus to form the shoulder joint. The scapula provides attachment to several muscles and helps in shoulder and arm movements.
