WEST SOMERSET RLY: Diesels at 65 Event - 29/08/2026

A video containing some of the action from the "Diesels at 65" event which includes the following locomotives. Class 09 BR 0-6-0 Shunter D4107. Class 33 Birmingham RC&W Bo-Bo diesel electric Type 3s D6566 and D6575 and Class 35 Beyer Peacock B-B diesel hytdraulic "Hymek" Type 3s D7017 and D7018.. The transitiomation from steam to diesel was represented by GWR 7800 "Manor" Class 4-6-0 7812 Erlestoke Manor and the locomotive can be seen departing Williton. The highlight of the event for me was the double headed workings by both the Class 33s and the Hymeks. The Hymeks shoulkd have crossed over the steam working at Williton but due to the brakes jammed on a coach the service was heavily delayed and the top and tail Class 33s arrived at Minehead before the pair of Hymeks while the defective vehicle was removed.. My wife took a couple of clips in the video: the steam loco departing from Williton and the Class 33 arriving at Williton.
