As I considered the words of Song of Solomon 8:6–7, I began thinking about a love so strong that even death could not overcome it, a love that many waters could not quench. I realized that no mere man is capable of loving with such perfect and unfailing love. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can love like that. He knows everything about us. Every hidden thought, every failure, every sin, and even the things we have yet to do. Nothing has ever taken Him by surprise. Yet knowing all, He loved us still. He went to Calvary knowing exactly whom He was dying for. Song of Solomon 8:6–7 "Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned." Galatians 2:20 "...the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." 2 Corinthians 5:15 "And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." This song is about more than being loved in spite of our failures. It is about responding to that love by yielding our lives to the One who gave Himself for us.
