New Zealand is a hub for cutting-edge research on coeliac disease, Dr Tina Baik will look into the promising avenues of clinical trials in the search for effective treatments. She will also discuss how clinical trials offer study participants access to potential new treatments while contributing to the collective effort to improve the lives of people with the condition. Before any trials proceed, the protocols and research methods are rigorously reviewed by New Zealand’s Health and Disability Ethics Committee (administered by the Ministry of Health) and Medsafe.
