🥚 Penguin Egg Watch LIVE | Two Eggs Incubating | Kororā Nest Cam | New Zealand

🥚 EGG WATCH — the clutch is complete. Two eggs were laid on 24 and 27 August 2026, and hatching is expected between 27 September and 1 October. Watch live, 24/7. Hamilton Bay Cottage is home to two Little Blue Penguins (Kororā) nesting in the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. After one penguin chose an old wooden crate under the cottage as a nesting spot, we built them a purpose-made nest box — and they moved right in. WHEN TO WATCH Kororā are nocturnal on land. Adults come ashore after dusk and head back to sea before dawn, so evenings and early mornings (NZST) are the most active. During incubation one bird sits on the eggs while the other feeds at sea, and they swap over every few days — so a quiet nest box usually means someone is out fishing. SEASON TIMELINE First egg — 24 August 2026 Second egg — 27 August 2026 Expected hatch — 27 September to 1 October 2026 Chicks fledge at roughly 8 weeks ABOUT KORORĀ The little penguin is the smallest penguin in the world at around 25 cm tall and just over 1 kg. New Zealand's Department of Conservation classifies them as At Risk – Declining, with dogs, introduced predators and road deaths among the main threats. Nest boxes like this one give a breeding pair somewhere safe. A clutch is usually two eggs laid a few days apart, incubated for 35-39 days by both parents in shifts of one to ten days.
