Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Rolex Swan Cup – Intense Monohull Racing on the Mediterranean

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, stages two of the world’s most prestigious regattas – the annual Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the biennial Rolex Swan Cup, with the latter featuring a record-breaking fleet of 170 Swan yachts on the 60th anniversary of the renowned Finnish boatyard Nautor Swan. At this year’s Maxi showpiece, six classes were decided, including two world titles. Leopard 3, owned by Joost Schuijff, secured the Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship for the second time, while Peter Dubens’ Northstar III, featuring the latest in keel, deck and mast design, won the Rolex IMA Maxi Grand Prix Championship. At the Swan Cup, the four best performing yachts topping their respective divisions were Gérard Logel’s Swan 601 robas (Maxi), Fernando Chain’s Swan 45 From Now On (Cruiser/Racer), William Graves’ Swan 44 Pride (Legacy) and Hendrik Brandis’ ClubSwan 50 Earlybird (One Design).
