Still Small | Ellery Stone

Right after the fire fell on Mount Carmel, the biggest public victory of his life, Elijah heard that Jezebel had sworn to kill him and he ran. He left his servant at Beersheba, walked a day into the wilderness, sat down under a broom tree and asked to die. What God sent him was sleep and food, twice, and an angel who told him the journey was too great for him. Then forty days to Horeb, and a cave, and a wind and an earthquake and a fire that God was not in, and after all of it a low whisper. He was also told he was wrong about being the last one left: seven thousand in Israel had never bowed to Baal. Track six on Called by Name, twelve folk songs, and the quietest thing on it, nearly a cappella over pump organ and cello.
