This was nothing but a ditch full of solid rock. I dug it out by hand for months — no excavator, no crew — until it became a natural fish pond. There was no soil to dig, only stone. Every barrow of rock came out with a hammer, a pry bar and my hands, week after week, before the pond could even start. Then came the real build: shaping the basin out of rock, sealing the base, laying stone edging from the same rock I dug out, planting the banks and filling it for the first time. No liner kit, no shortcuts — a pond that looks like the land made it.
